This is a quote from the book that I have been reading over the past week and a half, The Ragamuffin Gospel. I have noticed that too often we want to believe our own truth about God. We don't think about God as this dude who can and very well might take everything that we have ever owned and worked out whole life to obtain, and then after we have no home, friends and our spouse has left us he wants even more. God will not be mocked. I want to know God. I want to know the truth about God.
I went to a conference a few years back and the speaker Francis Chan said the following, "You know a man is looking for truth when he is willing to believe something about God that he does not want to believe."
I am going to look and search for the truth about God even if it is something that I do not want to believe. I will not longer believe that God can be made into who I want or someone else wants him to be.
